Kurt Lindau, District Administrator
Winter School District
The annual meeting for the Winter School District will be held in the Winter School Library on Monday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. The annual meeting is an opportunity for the electors of the school district to participate in the process of approving a budget for the operation of their local school district. The following is an overview of how the budget has come together for the 2017-18 school year. Budget books are available at local post offices and the Winter CO-OP. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. The 2017 general fund revenue limit for the Winter School District is
$3,607,035. This includes $300,000 for energy efficiency projects. The community service fund levy is proposed to remain the same as 2016 at $130,957. The October 15 certified amount of state aid is $94,477. This is down from the 2016 state aid amount of $111,239. The mill rate for tax year 2017 is calculated to be $8.16 per thousand. The owner of a $100,000 house will pay $816 in school taxes. This is down slightly from 2016 when the school tax/mill rate was $8.25. The equalized value of the Winter
School District is $457,641,546. This is up from the October 2016 equalized value, which was $454,803,663. The budget serves as a management tool to guide and direct the financial operations of the school district. There certainly will be changes to revenues and expenses as the year progresses.
The students and staff of the Winter School District appreciate the continued support from the electors of the Winter School District.
