This week at school, we conducted our annual Tornado Drill, a crucial part of our commitment to safety.  April 8-12 is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week, a time when we encourage you to review your family's emergency plan. While tornados and severe storms are rare, it's essential to be prepared. I vividly recall my first year of teaching in 2002 when a tornado struck the school.  The football team was practicing, and it was fortunate that one of the coaches had a tornado-proof room.  The incident left a lasting impression, underscoring the importance of preparedness.

Also, I want to thank Mr. Delabar for the hard work in getting our baseball and softball teams playing this week. Field conditions change daily in the spring. He gets calls at 10:30 p.m. or later about whether the fields are ready. Rain can change field conditions at a moment's notice, and student athletes' safety is his priority. We don’t want to ruin a player's health because of poor playing conditions. Our fields are often the last in the conference to be ready since the village was built on a swamp.
