Sawyer Melchert, son of Ritch Melchert and grandson of Nancy Melchert, has been selected as the Winter High School Student of the Month for April 2024!
Sawyer is a senior who first came to WHS during his junior year. He is a hardworking student who has maintained good grades. Anyone would describe Sawyer as kind and helpful. After high school he is heading to basic training for the United States Marines.
In addition to his studies, Sawyer has played football, basketball, baseball and track. This is his second year trying shot put and he is already excelling at this sport! He also has participated in SkillsUSA and was on the Junior prom court.
Mr. Suralski, the High School Social Studies teacher says, “Sawyer is an upstanding, honorable young man. He is one of the few students who will always look me in the eye and say "hello" each morning. What I admire about Sawyer the most is the care and love he shows toward his grandmother, who he has lived with during his time in Winter. I really think this speaks volumes about Sawyer as a quality person.”
