School District of Winter Academic and Career Planning

The School District of Winter is currently developing a more systemic process for creating academic and career plans (ACP) for ALL students. At Winter schools, we are proud to report that we have been doing Academic and Career Planning for several years; we are now combining the efforts of all staff in order to create an ACP process that involves all students, at all levels of schooling.

2023/2024

WSD - Academic and Career Planning Goals

The Academic and Career Planning (ACP) program has renewed its focus and identified three solid goals moving forward.

Goal one is a multi-year goal, but one we think is very worthy of continued effort. We would like to create a WHS Graduate Profile. This profile would essentially be a “resume” that outlines the qualities that every single WHS graduate would possess, and what employers or schools could expect from a WHS graduate. This goal might take a couple years to refine but would be a great addition to the school district.

Goal two is revisiting the District-wide template to show what we are ALREADY doing in each of our K-12 classrooms that align with career readiness. This is very helpful because we are already doing a lot of great things and we can also use it to identify gaps. This template is already in place, so we will only need to revise it.

Goal three is improving the ACP/Career readiness culture in our district. We will accomplish this by forming the new ACP team, meeting more often with more fidelity. The ACP team consists of Jeff Suralski, Billy Phillips, Alicia Lueloff, Dr. Julie Ray, Lauren Stanley, Shana Lindquist, Deb Steiner, and student representative, Blake Marten. Mr. Suralski has worked with CESA-12 to provide professional development resources that align with all three goals and will continue to implement them throughout the year.
