Officer Gomez shared real-life stories and practical strategies to help students better understand the consequences of their actions, recognize warning signs, and support one another. A key message throughout the presentation was that everyone has their own story, and that seeking help, building healthy habits, and making informed decisions can shape a stronger future.
We are grateful for the opportunity for our students to join Hayward in this meaningful learning experience and continue building awareness, resilience, and responsible decision-making skills.

The entire Winter School celebrated several students placing in area contests. Winter students submitted 100+ posters to the County Conservation Poster Contest. February 2026
Eli Rasmussen
Class of 2027
Eli Rasmussen, son of Stacie Rasmussen,
has been chosen as the Winter High School
Student of the Month for February 2026.
Eli is a quiet student who always does a great
job on his work. He is helpful and polite. While
in High School Eli played on the
Winter/Birchwood Warcats Football team.
Mrs. Alicia Lueloff, the Winter School District
Business Education teacher, says, “Eli has
come such a long way since his freshman
year. I’ve never seen anything but respect from
Eli, and I see him quite often. He is quiet, does
his work and all with no complaint. He has
come out of his shell quite a bit, and now
shows so much humor, too! Eli is the definition
of a Warrior by going the miles!” Mr. Jeff
Suralski, the Winter High School Social
Studies teacher, says, “Eli is one of those
students that I can always count on to have
their work completed, to be on time for class
with a good attitude, and to always give me an honest answer when I ask. A real stand-up guy.
Congrats on the well earned recognition, Eli!”
Congratulations to Eli for earning Student of the Month for February 2026!

February 2026
Lucas Splain
Class of 2026
Lucas Splain, son of Jeffrey and
Candee, is featured in our Senior
Spotlight for February 2026.
While in High School Lucas has quietly
completed each of his courses with
diligence. He always has a quiet, but
pleasant attitude and is willing to try new
things when asked. He is helpful,
including picking up the recycling for the
entire school each day; this can be a
messy job, but he never complains.
Following High School Lucas plans to go
into the work force, likely into
construction.
Mr. Mike Scanlon, Winter School
District’s Technology Education teacher,
says, “Lucas is a very diligent worker. He
excels at anything he does and gives
110%. He enjoys art as well as welding
and woods classes.” Mr. Jeff Suralski, the
Winter High School Social Studies
teacher, says, “Lucas has taken nearly every single social studies class that I offer and he has
always done great work. If I need a job done well, I know I can count on Lucas to do it!.”
Congratulations to Lucas for earning Senior Spotlight for February 2026!
