Dear Caregivers of Middle School Students,
The middle school age is one where students’ peer groups and friend becomes more and more important. This is a sign of independence, but it can also lead students into making wrong choices. In the middle school, the staff has become aware of some bullying behavior.
The individual behaviors are being addressed, but it is important for all students to be aware of the serious consequences bullying can have on individuals and families.
To address this issue, the middle school on February 23rd will be watching a documentary about bullying. The video is called Bully and is rated PG-13. It is a hard video to watch. There is some swearing, and it interviews families whose children have committed suicide due to bullying.
We will be separating the girls and boys to watch individually and having discussions after and during the video. We will also have our school counselor, Mr. Huth, on-site to be able to provide any additional support students may need.
If you would like your student not to participate, please contact the school.
There is a website about the film that you can find more information about the film and bullying resources: https://www.thebullyproject.com/about_film

RE: Move to Virtual Learning
Due to our current staff shortage, increase in number of sick students and for the safety and health of our students, we plan to move to the virtual learning platform in all buildings (elementary, middle school, and high school) for Wednesday (1/19), Thursday (1/20), and Friday (1/21). We are currently seeing cases of Influenza A, RSV, and COVID-19 in our building. All after school activities and sports practices are cancelled for those days. During this closing, we will be performing a deep clean and disinfecting the building to slow the transmission of these viruses. No students will be allowed in the building these three days. Students will return to in person learning on January 24th.
Students will be given instruction before they leave today about homework they will need to complete over the next three days. Grades 6 through 12 will be using google classroom. Students grades 9-12 need to log on at their specific class time. Grades 6 through 8 will log on to google classroom and complete work assigned. Grades K-5 have been given packets to bring home and complete over the three days. 4K has been given packets to take home to complete over the two days. Teachers will be in the school during regular school hours from 7:30 to 3:30 if your students have any questions.
We will be providing meals for all students upon request. Call 715-266-6701 to place your order with your student’s full name and number of meals before 10 AM on Wednesday. You would be entitled to receive 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches per child. Food will need to be picked up at the school between 10 AM and 4 PM on Wednesday. Please give us an estimated time you will be arriving.
We apologize for any inconvenience. However, the health and safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. It is our hope that through this shutdown and deep cleaning, we will be able to keep our school open. We are asking for your assistance. If you have a sick child, please keep them home and do not send them to school. This helps stop the spread of viruses and allows us to keep our students in school to receive in person instruction. As always, thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please contact the District Office. The office hours will remain 7:30 to 3:30.
