Mr. Delabar‘s Summer School Fishing 101 class is off to a tremendous start this week. On day one, Students learned the art of knot tying with the uni and clinch knots. They also went through common species, their habitats, and their feeding patterns to prepare for the next day of fishing. They rigged up multiple rods to start with a worm and bobber approach and will later evolve into small lures and plastics.
On day two, they took to the lake. The students fished 3 different locations on Lake Winter and were able to land six different species using various presentations. They look forward to another 2 1/2 weeks of fishing all over the winter area!
In summer school Mrs. Strop’s 4th and 5th graders are having some “camping” fun while reading, working with rulers to measure in inches and centimeters, and finding camping homophones! Stories around the campfire is a class favorite! In PE Mr. Moelter is teaching and reviewing basic skills of outdoor games!
Grades 3 through 5 spent the last day of school at Connor's Lake. The day was full of sun, fun, playing, and friends. A great day making memories!
Way to go Winter Elementary and Winter High School on being recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The recognition shows how they are serving a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students and achieving academic results above the state average for similar schools. The schools recognized are effectively educating students facing challenges, and also achieving strong academic outcomes. Thank you to our staff for their passion and commitment to our students.

More camping fun with Mrs. Adams!
We’re “camping out” in Mrs. Adams’ summer school room this week! We are enjoying practicing our reading, writing, and math skills in a campsite setting! Fun!

The Cable Natural History Museum has started a new program this year for 10–12-year-olds. Please check out this opportunity for our 3 day summer camp.
Here is an update on golf today at Rice Lake Sectional. Overall the team made a solid showing; Bella and Aden showed improvement in their 18 hole average score, Justin played solid with the exception of two holes on the back that got him detailed. Carter shot a nice low score, only a couple higher than the previous Regional. Adam hit the ball very well all day, just struggled with putting today. All in all Adam’s 85 could have easily been a 78 that was necessary to qualify for state if his putting was a little sharper.
But there were many positives in the day, starting with all the players showing up on time at 5:45 am! They showed excellent attitude and sportsmanship all day long, which is the biggest win for me. Congrats to the team on a great season!

Kindergarten and First grade teachers surprised their students with a Pool Party to celebrate the end of a successful school year. Everyone enjoyed Pool Party Bingo, pool noodle relay, making chalk beach scenes, blowing bubbles, building LEGO sand castles and having summertime treats. We even learned the HULA! Every student got to bring home their own pool float to enjoy during summer vacation! A great time was had by all!
