Student of the Month: January 2025
Naima Burt, Class of 2025
Naima Burt, daughter of Lucas Burt and Crystal Van Winkle, has been selected as the Winter High School Student of the Month for January 2025!
Naima is a senior who is currently exploring her college options and has already applied to several schools. She hopes to continue pursuing her passions for track and field and music in college.
In school, Naima is a quiet but exceptional student, consistently performing at a proficient level. She particularly enjoys assignments and projects that involve logic and numbers. Naima has also excelled in welding classes offered through the Tech Ed department.
Throughout her time at Winter High School, Naima has been active in volleyball, basketball, track and field, and forensics. Her hobbies and interests are diverse—she shines in track and field, especially in the long jump, and is an outstanding musician. Naima plays the piano and other percussion instruments at a level that surpasses most high school students. She has performed at conference honors band concerts, UW-Superior’s Tri-State Honors Band, and the WSMA State Solo and Ensemble festivals. Outside of school, Naima enjoys fashion design and has created and sewn many impressive dresses and clothing items.
Naima’s teachers speak highly of her dedication and character:
Mrs. Lueloff, the Winter School District Business Education teacher, says, “Unfortunately, I do not have Naima in any of my classes this year. However, I see a driven young woman determined to succeed. She is funny and focused on achieving her dreams. I’m excited to see what her future holds.”
Mr. Suralski, the Winter High School Social Studies teacher, says, “Naima takes great pride in her work. I had the pleasure of helping her complete a research project on the Vietnam War, using her grandfather, Richard Burt, as a primary source. This project was deeply meaningful to Naima, and it was heartwarming to witness the personal connection take shape.”
Mr. Kolodzinski, the Winter High School English teacher, shares, “Although I only had Naima in a college-level course during the first trimester, I’ve seen her dedication to self-improvement and her commitment to achieving her goals. I’m looking forward to having her in Sci-Fi & Fantasy next trimester.”
Congratulations to Naima Burt on being selected as Winter High School’s Student of the Month for January 2025!
